No sabemos si dar por válido el polémico anuncio de la semana pasada, con el fichaje del actor británico (y hetero) Jack Whitehall para interpretar a un "muy decadente, con mucha pluma y divertido" gay para 'Jungle Cruise'. Disney tiene muchos actores LGBT entre los que elegir, y para muestra lo que ha pasado en cuestión de horas. Un actor Disney sale del armario como trans y otro como gay.

Josie Totah es una actriz de 17 años a la que conocimos como el actor J.J. Totah interpretando el personaje de Stuart en la serie Disney 'Jessie'. Hace tan solo unas horas publicaba un artículo en la revista Time saliendo del armario como trans. Estas han sido parte de sus propias palabras: "tenía miedo de que no me aceptaran, de que me avergonzaran, de que los fans que me conocían desde que actuaba en una serie de Disney se sintieran confundidos. Pero en los últimos años me di cuenta de que ocultar mi verdadera identidad no es saludable. Ahora sé, más que nunca, que finalmente estoy listo para dar este paso para convertirme en mí misma. Estoy lista para ser libre".

Y por otro lado tenemos a Garrett Clayon, actor Disney que conocimos en 'Teen Beach Movie' y que cambió radicalmente de registro al intepretar al actor porno gay Brent Corrigan en la película 'King Cobra'. En una reciente publicación de Instagram habla de su último proyecto, 'Reach', y sale del armario públicamente al presentarnos a su novio, Blake Knight. ¡Disney está más LGBT que nunca!

 

With the release of my new movie REACH coming up, I thought it was important to explain why I took on this project in the first place. REACH deals with some very serious and timely topics that have affected me personally, and have likely influenced many of your lives as well. (I also prefer to share things that are particularly important for me here on my IG) instead of in some random magazine or online article - because you are the ones that have been rooting for me and following me on my professional and personal journey in life. When I read the script for REACH, I immediately knew it was a film I had to be a part of. I have personally dealt with suicide within my own family, intense bullying in high school, and - on top of it all - myself and the man I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time (@hrhblakeknight) have both experienced shootings within our hometown school systems, and have witnessed the heartache that takes place in affected communities after such tragic events. These topics - not always easy to discuss- are all close to my heart, and, knowing how serious they are, I wanted to share this with you all. This film has come from the perspectives of people who care deeply about these issues, and if watching it helps even one person... then it was all worth it.
